Compost Demonstration Workshop

Join The City of Hendersonville and Henderson County for a FREE compost demonstration workshop where participants will learn the basics of composting, different methods available to fit a variety of needs, and learn what programs are available to get started.

When asked about this event, City of Hendersonville Sustainability Manager Caitlyn Gendusa stated “Composting offers a simple yet impactful way for everyone to embrace sustainability in their homes. This event aims to provide attendees with insights into the tools and resources available from the community, and to foster a deeper confidence in the practice of composting.”

This event is part of the City’s waste reduction efforts as part of the upcoming Sustainability Strategic Plan with a key goal to reduce City-wide solid waste by encouraging methods such as recycling and composting. Workshop topics include:

•     Introduction of composting basics
•     Debunking of myths surrounding composting
•     Food Waste Prevention Week and how to prevent food waste
•     Overview of Henderson County’s discounted compost bin program (available to City residents)
•     Demonstration of backyard compost bin system and worm compost system
